Most likely had wavetable MIDI too, which I’m pretty sure the Pro Sonic did not. Don’t recall what else the Pro Zonic added other than Sound Master II. ![]() I think the Pro Sonic had Adlib, Soundblaster Pro, Soundblaster 16, and Pro Audio Spectrum support. The Pro Zonic was the successor to the Pro Sonic. Media Vision released a sound card dubbed “Pro Zonic” that rolled all the major sound card standards into one, including all the features of the Sound Master II. One of the last things the company did was releasing drivers to make the card Soundblaster compatible.Įven after Covox was gone, the Sound Master II wasn’t done. The Sound Master II lost the 2600 ports, and (IIRC) gained Adlib compatibility plus Covox’s own digital audio while retaining the Speech Thing. The Sound Master was essentially an internal Speech Thing with a pair of Atari 2600 compatible joystick ports and IIRC another feature or two. Other than the Speech Thing they made two 8 bit ISA soundcards. Back in the olden days, this was the fastest way to get digital data out of a computer, but since it was digital only, a DAC was required to turn this into audio. Instead of fancy chips, the original Covox Speech Thing used the 8 bit parallel port on a PC. recently built his own Covox (Czech, Google translatrix) with just 18 resistors, and the results sound fantastic. ![]() it was the Covox Speech Thing, a simple resistor ladder wired up to the parallel port of a computer that would output 8-bit audio to an external amplifier. MIDI chips, FM synthesis, and synths on a chip reigned supreme but one little device – just a handful of resistors – sounded fantastic. About 30 years ago, before every computer had CD quality audio built in, audio cards and chips were technological marvels.

I’ll always commend that sequel for the fact that it feels much bigger than it actually is.īut the third entry sounded even bigger and I think that probably broke them. ![]() The original Waxwork barely did enough bank for a sequel, so it’s surprising that Waxwork II was way, way wider in scope and even more surprising that they actually managed to pull that off. It sounds like the third entry would definitely have pushed even further into fantasy from horror than the second film had, and also sounds as though it would have been even more ambitious-which is probably a major reason as to why it never got made. The proposed sequel would have taken things in a very Army of Darkness direction, with Mark and Sarah ending up in the kingdom of King Arthur and aiding Merlin the Magician in battle against a witch named Modor so that they could return to their present time. A title that definitely makes sense, given that the sequel ends with Mark being committed to his new role as time warrior and Sarah giving up her life in the present to return to join him in the past. ![]() Turns out, I was right.ĭirector Anthony Hickox had originally intended to follow Waxwork 1 & 2 with a third entry titled Waxwork III: Through the Gates of Time. I'm sure it is possible to change the order by editing the ist in ~/Library/Application Support/Avian/BundleName.tmbundle/ist, by adding the UUID of the command to the right location. In TextMate 2, drag and drop does not work (test with TextMate r9325 on OS 10.7.5). ![]() In TextMate 1, it is possible to change the order of items in a submenu in the Bundle Editor: simply select an item and drag it to the desired location. ![]() Caret positioned after the inserted text. The text "Hello world" placed and selected The command option "caret placement": "select output" does not work, but behaves as "caret placement": "place after output".Ĭode: echo "Hello world\n" Input: Selection - Text Output: Replace Input - Text Caret Placement - Select Output I created a patch that only leaves the functions and methods.īugs Caret placement: select output Summary: It includes objects, entities, functions and methods. The JavaScript Symbol list (popup menu in lower right of the window) contains a fair amount of noise. If ("TM_SELECTED_TEXT" in os.environ and os.environ != ""):įor line in os.environ.splitlines(True): If ("TM_SOFT_TABS" in os.environ and os.environ = "YES"): The other properties are default (Save: Nothing Input: Selection, Text Output: Replace Input, Text Caret Placement: Heuristic.). To remedy this, I created a new command in a bundle, called this Shift Right with keystroke ⌘]. One little annoyance is that the shift right command increases the indent of all selected lines, except for blank lines. TextMate 2 folds correctly, but my preference remains. Surely this was caused by TextMate 1 where the folding did not work properly for non-indented blank lines: I have personal preference that blank lines are indented. It is common practise not to indent blank lines. I removed all "fontName" and "fontSize" declarations. Here you will find the styles for different scopes. To turn off fonts and font sizes, edit the Themes bundle, and go to settings. In TextMate 2, only the underline is selected, which just looks weird if that gets a large font and the actual header does not. While I love the colour coding and occasional bold or italic, changes in font size bother me, especially for Setext or Markdown: TextMate 2 has the ability to adjust the font and font size for each scope. If you made a mistake, you can change this file manually to revert your preferences. If you opt to keep this preference, it is stored in the file ~/Library/Application Support/TextMate/Global.tmProperties. If you open a file with unknown extension, TextMate 2 will ask you which bundle to use for the language rules. This even disables indentation corrections if you press enter after you open or close a code block with. If you want to disable all indentation corrections anywhere, create a new bundle (I created a bundle called "Indentation" for this purpose) and set the scope to `*`. These parameters can be set by adding a new “Settings” item with the following properties: Pasted text is indented based on the current scope. Pasted text is inserted as-is without indenting it. (this particularly works well for Python.) Indents the paste to the position of the caret. indentOnPaste Controls how to indent when pasting text. It does not affect the regular indentation that occurs after pressing return to create a new line. Since r9283 TextMate has two settings to control the indentation behaviour:ĭisableIndentCorrections Enables or disable indentation upon typing text. Conventional auto-indentation only occurs in response to pasting or hitting return. The only way to correct this is to return to the space after typing "word". For example in the Mediawiki bundle, typing " word" (with a space as the first character) results in the removal of the space if the line above doesn't have a space either. ![]() TextMate 2 has a tendency to alter indentation when you start typing. (The folder has a different name to avoid interference with TextMate 1, but why this folder is called Avian instead of TextMate2 is beyond me.) Any edits you make will be stored as a diff in ~/Library/Application Support/Avian/Bundles TextMate 2 keeps a list of Bundles in ~/Library/Application Support/TextMate/Managed/Bundles. In TextMate 2, bundles can be installed from the preference dialog, and edited with the bundle editor (menu Bundles > Edit Bundles.). Here is a list of issues I found, and how I solved them. TextMate is a text editor for Mac OS X, geared towards programmers (it only supports plain text, without layout). 2/1/2024 0 Comments Singing divine officeNon-clerics, even religious women and men, may make use of the vernacular in the Hours. Since however the same Liturgy Constitution concedes the use of the vernacular in the Divine Office both by the faithful and by nuns and other members of Institutes professing the evangelical virtues, who are not clerics, due care should be taken that melodies are prepared which may be used in the singing of the Divine Office in the vernacular. In accordance with the norm of the Constitution on the Liturgy and the centuries-old tradition of the Latin rite, the Latin language is to be retained for clerics celebrating the Divine Office in choir. Singing for religious praying in common, yes.Ĥ1. It is desirable also that they should participate more fully in the public prayer of the Church by performing the principal Hours of the Office in sung form, as far as possible. ![]() The members of Institutes professing the evangelical virtues should be given special instruction of this type, so that they may draw from it more abundant riches for the development of their spiritual life. And just how do we cultivate this “stronger taste” in the Church’s “public prayer?” My opinion: along with Reconciliation, this stands one of the notable failures of the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council.Ĥ0. ![]() Regardless the charge to pastors and other leaders remains in print here. #39 was crafted before the advent of the evening Masses of Saturday and Sunday. In general, the faithful, particularly the more educated, should be led by suitable teaching, to understand the psalms in a Christian sense and use them in their own prayers, so that they may gradually acquire a stronger taste for the use of the public prayer of the Church. One will invite the faithful, ensuring that they receive the requisite instruction, to celebrate in common on Sundays and feast days certain parts of the Divine Office, especially Vesper, or, according to the customs of the particular area and assembly, other Hours. Within each celebration of the Hours, the Consilium advises singing the parts that are actually songs, or those part which are easily adapted to song and pastorally appropriate.ģ9. This does not change the rules at present in force for those obliged to choir, nor does it change particular indults. dialogues, hymns, verses and canticles, may be sung, and the rest recited. When the Divine Office is to be celebrated in sung form, a principle of “progressive” solemnity can be used, inasmuch as those parts which lend themselves more directly to a sung form, e.g. These communal celebrations of Morning Praise and Evensong were among the settings in which I cut my teeth as a liturgical musician.ģ8. It was in the diocese of Rochester in the early 80’s that I was introduced to the Liturgy of the Hours outside of a monastery for the first time. Other clerics also, who live in common for the purpose of studies, or who meet for retreats or other purposes, will sanctify their meetings in a very fitting way if they celebrate some parts of the Divine Office in sung form. ![]() This is an apt principle we saw in the discussion on the celebration of Mass: focus on the most important parts of the prayer for musical settings. I find a certain edification in singing it when I pray alone.įor it is desirable that at least some part of the Divine Office, especially the principal Hours, namely Lauds and Vespers, should be performed in sung form by these people, at least on Sundays and feast days. That is why, in accordance with the wish of the Constitution on the Liturgy, this sung form is strongly recommended to those who celebrate the Office in choir or in common. It expresses its solemnity in a fuller way and expresses a deeper union of hearts in performing the praises of God. The sung celebration of the Divine Office is the form which best accords with the nature of this prayer. It is important to note we’re only about halfway through the document, and the Consilium now turns its concern to liturgical music outside of the celebration of Mass.ģ7. Eight rows across and several variations of species at once felt like too much to reasonably deal with consistently unless some of the more destructive critters (randomly) appeared. That said, I felt the final third or so of the game began losing some of its elegance in favor of sheer volume. The game begins simply enough, but it doesn't take long before even veteran puzzleheads will find themselves fully engrossed in snatching and spitting creatures at a furious pace. At the same time, variety elements like bombs, blockers, toxics, extinctors and wild card creatures add a welcome layer of complexity to the proceedings. Supporting the clarity of the concept, Capybara has done a great job constantly introducing new mechanics at a manageable pace, ensuring that the player never feels overwhelmed or confused. The dynamic asks the player to look at the screen in an interestingly new way (while always remaining on the lookout for "food chain" combos) but remains instantly accessible and easy to understand. This adorable orange furball has an impossibly long tongue that can snatch and rearrange different species of animals that appear at the top and advance slowly towards the bottom.Īs expected, the player needs to make matches to keep the action under control, but instead of aligning three or filling lines, Biggs must feed the correct species to its predator in order to make it burst with fullness and vanish. At the bottom of the screen is Biggs, the player's creature. In an interesting twist on the puzzle genre, Critter Crunch revolves around living creatures instead of oddly-shaped blocks or gemstones of various colors. That said, I'm happy to report that although it might benefit from a new handle, the gameplay behind the lukewarm moniker is more than enough to make up for any initial impressions of blandness. It sounds painfully generic and one could hardly be blamed for passing it over while perusing the PlayStation Store. It's unfortunate that Critter Crunch has the title it does. LOW The difficulty of the final third feels haphazard and unrefined. |
